Ted Lasso is my current evening entertainment. We’re binge watching it on Apple TV, which feels even more decadent now the nights are drawing in and we can cosy up in front of the fire. Have you seen it ?
For those that don’t know, “Ted Lasso” is an American sports comedy-drama television series. The show quickly became renowned for its warmth, humour, and positive message. The series revolves around Ted, an inexperienced but likeable American football coach who is unexpectedly hired to coach AFC Richmond, a fictional English Premier League soccer team. Despite having no experience in coaching football, Ted’s relentless optimism and unconventional methods begin to win over the skeptical players, staff, and fans.
The show delves into various themes, including teamwork, leadership, personal growth, and the power of kindness and positivity. Ted’s unwavering optimism and unorthodox approach to coaching bring about transformative experiences in the personal lives of those around him.
It struck me that this positive optimism and is exactly what we believe in at Polka Dot Farm. The use of positivity when caring for young children is fundamental in our approach. Using positive language and affirmations helps children develop a stronger sense of self-worth. When children hear positive words about their efforts and abilities, they are more likely to feel confident and capable, encouraging them to take on new challenges with a positive attitude.
And we don’t really change as adults! The power of positivity and happiness is timeless.
As well as fostering a Growth Mindset, positive psychology involves recognising and validating children’s feelings, teaching them to understand and manage their emotions effectively.
Ted Lasso – you have it right! The impact of a positive mindset cannot be overlooked. When it comes to young children, its crucial!
