Saturday night saw Team Green head on up to the big smoke for our Chirstmas night out. It was joyous to see everyone socially and we all look quite different when we swap our wellies and hoodies for sequins and skirts!
First stop was The Crystal Maze. For those of you too young to remember, “The Crystal Maze” is an iconic television game show from the early 1990s. In each zone, team members take turns to participate in a variety of games: skill, physical, mental, and mystery. The goal of these games is to solve puzzles or complete tasks to win ‘crystals’. Each crystal won gives the team more time in the final challenge, set in the Crystal Dome.
For the children at the farm, every day must be like The Crystal Maze! Our little learners are navigating learning challenges through every moment of every day.
Just as contestants in the Maze hone their dexterity and precision in Skill challenges, our children develop fine motor skills through activities like drawing, building blocks, or tying shoelaces. Each meticulous task they undertake is a step towards mastering control and coordination.
In terms of Physical challenges, our children engage in physical play constantly – running, jumping, climbing – vital for their physical health and growth. These activities not only build their bodies but also teach them about their own capabilities.
The Maze’s Mental puzzles echo the cognitive challenges children face. Whether it’s solving a simple math problem, decoding a story, or figuring out a puzzle, these activities stimulate their brains, fostering problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
In Mystery Challenges, contestants face the unknown, much like our children who encounter strange new experiences daily. From meeting new friends to learning new concepts, they are constantly adapting, developing social skills, and learning to navigate the world around them.
Every day our little learners are out there, figuring things out, getting stronger, and being awesome little problem-solvers. They’re navigating their own exciting mazes every day.
