One year ago today we opened the doors to Polka Dot Farm to the very first children.
What a year! We have 198 families attending the farm on a weekly basis, with a waiting list that grows weekly. The response to the farm has been nothing short of incredible.
But as a mum, I’m not surprised. Polka Dot Farm is exactly the type of place that I would have wanted for my own children when they were small.
When I first stepped into the Early Years industry in 2005 the focus was around getting our children “computer literate” with a heavy focus of incorporated I.T in settings nationally.
Fast forward to 2024 and I don’t think there are many children who can’t access YouTube from an iPad before they can speak.
Polka Dot Farm is our response to the belief that childrens childhoods are in danger. We wanted to bring back “Old School Childhoods” and harness the education that we can glean from the world around us. We want “More Green Time and Less Screen Time. We still have IT in the nursery, albeit in smaller doses. We get outside, we go on farm walks, we jump in muddy puddles and we look after our animals!
We are so proud of what Polka Dot has become – thank you for being part of it!
